There are many aspects that contribute to a well-designed smile. Depending on the patient’s facial and dental analysis, we will determine if treatment will involve the six anterior teeth or if it will extend to include the posterior teeth.

Creating an Aesthetically Pleasing Smile

Symmetry

First, the imaginary line that runs between the eye pupils should be perpendicular to the dental midline ( midline between the two central incisors).

The vertical dental midline should be perpendicular to the incisal edge of teeth.

In order to create midline symmetry, the central incisors should be mirror images of each other.

We use the “golden proportion” and various other proportion tools designed for the front teeth to ensure that the lateral incisors and canines fall into harmony with the central incisors.

We ensure that the axial inclinations of each tooth is directed toward the midline for a more esthetic smile.

Brightness

We then evaluate the color of the teeth and determine if whitening treatments will be beneficial.

Fullness

Lastly, we evaluate the dark corridors of the smile and determine the treatment option that could give the smile a fuller appearance.
